o2 Luxembourg, a non-profit online design consultancy focusing on sustainable design announces WD'8, the 1st annual Design Wintrange Workshop.
The concept is simple: Designers, architects and creative minds live, work and party under the same roof in a Renaissance Castle built in 1610, surrounded by a private park.
Days are filled with inspiring workshops and design playgrounds, tasty food, local wine tasting trips and outdoor activities, memorable days and of course networking opportunities.
Workshop 1
Naked Castle (14 - 25 July 2008)
The Renaissance Château de Wintrange is the playground and home at the same time. A design cocktail of Heritage with Modern.
You will get to choose one of a series of totally bare rooms, assign them a function and design concepts for its use. This workshop is mainly focusing on concept development, interaction design and contextual analysis. Intense Micro-Workshops are part of this design adventure.
Workshop 2
Mixed Greens (28 July - 08 August 2008)
Mixed Greens is a community project, and involves multiple variable design challenges to fuel ideas and re-think the way we design and consume. This workshop is based on team work, leadership and applied sustainable strategies.
The village of Wintrange will partly be integrated in this workshop for the community session. Other sessions include:
- Zero Day (Zero Waste, Zero power)
- MicroSpace (minimal working space methods)
- Hunt + Gather (connecting with Nature - FYI: no animal hunting)
- Dumpster Dive Design (50 households, one day's trash and your ideas)
- Design Playground (short, fast and intense sessions)
Workspace is both indoors and outdoors.
Workshop 3
Make It Real (11 - 22 August 2008)
This workshop is all about making your dream concept come true. You'll have the time, space and support to finally work on this one project you've always had on your mind. With the support from your peers and hosts, you'll get constructive feedback and finish with a piece of work for your portfolio.
The workshop is mainly based on process design where the journey is the core focus. This workshop focuses on collaborative work, with frequent critics, presentations and constructive feedback. Time planning, follow-through and organization are essential to this workshop. Make It Real will start with a session addressing methods and tools on how to tackle such a project.
Each workshop costs 740 Euros.
