Standing at the heart of the concerns of the Grenelle de l'Environnement and the energy challenges for building, from 2nd to 7th November 2009 BATIMAT, the world's leading construction show, will draw the construction professionals (project managers, contractors, entrepreneurs and distributors) of France and the world to its seven spaces: Structure, Joinery and Closures, Finishing and Decoration, Equipment and Tools, Sustainable Management of Buildings, IT and Services.
As an outstanding venue for meetings and discussions at which innovations from all around the world are unveiled and trends emerge, this multi-specialist show is an opportunity to discover the new technical solutions that will form part of the sustainable construction and renovation projects of tomorrow.
With the return to BATIMAT of such leaders as BASF, Poujoulat, Eternit, STO..., exhibitor loyalty (67% of the exhibitors at BATIMAT 2007 have already rebooked) and the increase in the average stand area, the 2009 show already looks set to be a splendid vintage despite the current market difficulties.
A show dedicated to Sustainable Renovation
The theme of renovation will be at the heart of the major developments in construction over the coming years: the reduction of energy losses, the development of renewables, sound insulation, accessibility for persons with reduced mobility, enabling the elderly to remain in their homes, as well as other functions such as safety and security, health and comfort. BATIMAT 2009 will serve as an illustration of the commitment to and realization of these flagship measures of the Grenelle de l'Environnement after one year of implementation.
Although 70% of French people* rate the measures adopted as part of the Grenelle de l'Environnement positively, this favourable opinion has yet to be translated into legislative fact.
Batimat 2009: the highlights
In order to demonstrate the international dimension of the show, Russia has been chosen as country of the year for BATIMAT 2009 (in 2007 there were more than 1,000 Russian visitors), and numerous events will be organized over the six days: conferences on the market and on the development of architecture in Russia, presentation of major current projects...
The countries of North Africa, including Morocco, which was the leading country of origin for foreign visitors in 2007, will also be at the centre of major events at the show. The programme will include conferences on the building market in these countries and its development, a look at the integration of sustainable development and its application in the projects of today and tomorrow.
As a multi-specialist show, BATIMAT 2009 will also stage specific events in conjunction with its 7 spaces.
With a new visual identity and original set design, the Finishing and Decoration Space will become a show within a show devoted to three major themes: colour, materials and light. Here, visitors will have the pleasure of experiencing a new realization of the ‘Materials that Differ' space, which is a forum co-ordinated by an architect assisted by architectural students dedicated to unusual materials.
As a mirror of the construction market, the 27th BATIMAT will, once again, be the place where the major international trends become apparent and sustainable innovations are launched.
