2 senelik bir yüksek lisans programı olarak hazırlanan ve doğal afetlerin tarihi yapı ve çevrelere etkileri üzerine odaklanan eğitim programı Ekim 2002'de açılıyor. Hazırlığı Avrupa Birliği, Fransa Çevre Bakanlığı ve Fransa Kültür Bakanlığı tarafından tamamlanan programda 10 ülkeden uzmanlar da yer aldı. Koordinasyon merkezinin Bordoeaux'daki Mimarlık ve Peyzaj Fakültesi olduğu programın dersleri, Bordeaux, Perpignan ve Manosque'de yapılacak. Üçüncü devre Master seviyesinde bir program olan bu eğitim, ilk Avrupa Master Derecelerinden de biri olacak. 

BUILT HERITAGE and NATURAL DISASTERS

A new 3rd Cycle / Master's Programme

A new two-year Master's Degree Programme dealing with the effects of natural disasters on historic built heritage will be launched in October 2002. Its preparation was funded by the European Union and the French Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Culture involving experts from 10 countries. The co-ordination is based at Ecole d'Architecture et de Paysage de Bordeaux in France and the courses and the projects will take place in Bordeaux, Perpignan and Manosque. It is a 3rd Cycle / Master's Course which is likely to be one of the first 'European Master's Degrees' to be introduced soon.

The Course is designed to cater for architects, engineers, archaeologists, restoration specialists and urban planners working on the effects of disasters on buildings in general and historic buildings in particular.

TIMETABLE:
October 2002: 3 weeks of courses, site visits, directed work and the introduction to the First Project in Perpignan, Manosque and Bordeaux.
November 2002-April 2003: Supervised work on the First Project with urban planning emphasis by students in their home countries.
April 2003: 2 weeks of courses and the jury of the First Project on urban planning in Bordeaux. Feedback. Introduction to the Second Project.
November 2003: 2 weeks of courses in Bordeaux, or by distance learning.
November 2003 -April 2004: Supervised work on the Second Project with architectural emphasis by students in their home countries.
April 2004: One week of juries, final juries, feedback. Awarding of the Degree.

The students will have local supervisors (some of which could be the contributors to the course) to be proposed by them or by the local members of the Course Team.

LANGUAGE: Mainly French, with some lectures in English and the possibility of conducting discussions, tutorials and juries in English. State the level of competence in both languages.

CANDIDATES:
Graduates of architecture, urban planning, engineering, archaeology, restoration, … with at least 4 or 5 years of education. Professionals or university teachers / researchers are welcome. Persons doing Master's or PhD degrees in related areas can do it parallel with this Course and get help from international experts.

- Applications (in French and/or English) stating qualifications, experience, a CV and max. 2-page letter of intention by 28 June 2002.
- A preliminary response by the first week of July and an interview in Bordeaux in the second week of July.
- A definite response by 3rd week of July.
