Katılma koşulları:
1- Türkiyedeki mimarlık okullarindan 6 öğrenci katılabilecektir.

2- 3., 4. Sınıf ve yüksek lisans öğrencileri katılabilirler.

3- 3 öğrenci ve 1 öğretim görevlisi katılacaktir. 3 asil - 3 yedek öğrenci ile 1 asil + 1 yedek öğretim görevlisi bildirilecektir.

4- Yazokullarında resmi dil İngilizce ve/veya Fransızca'dır.

5- Katılanlarin okul ve yemek masrafları yaz okulu düzenleyen kuruluş tarafindan karşılanacaktır.

6- Katılım payı 100 euro'dır. Yaz okulundan "sertifika" alındığı taktirde 50 euro iade edilecektir.

7- Yaz okulun düzenlendiği beldeye kadar yol masrafları, universite yurdunda tek kişilik (18.08 euro kişi/gün) ve iki kişilik (12.91 euro kişi/gün) ve sabah kahvaltıları katılanlar tarafindan karşılanacaktır.

8- Başvuru için 2 nüsha katılım formu doldurulacak dekanlık onayı alınacaktır. 13.06.2003 cuma saat 17.00'den sonra başvuru kabul edilmeyecektir. Kesin katılım listesi 23.06.2003 pazartesi günü açıklanacaktır.

Bergama: 
A town, which has born 3000 years ago, Pergame has been the focus point of religions, cultures and science. She witnessed the multiple of firsts, such as first manufacture of paper from daim, first Asian Library (200.000 books), first big hospital (Asklepion), first psychotherapy, first natural health care (music, theatre, sports, sun, water and mud), first pharmacology, first medical with opium, first sewage system, first symbol of medicine (column with serpents), first engineering (trigonometry with 'U' pipes, first urban plan, first
Market place Law, first communal state, first city with 4 theatres, first strike and public agreement (Eumenes-I recognised the rights of professional soldier 248 BC), first syndics and confederation of syndics, first continuous education, first biggest altar, first theatre with wooden scene, first Christian church (one of the first 7 churches), first grammar of Western Turkish…….

From Kingdom of Pergame in Hellenistic period, through Romans, Byzantines, Seljukids and Ottomans where each of these civilisations left incomparable arts to the precedents, made Pergame a living museum.

Acropolis situated at 330 m high hill, which had a view on the bay (now it is a fertile plain) in which the Kingdom of Pergame installed, includes King's palaces, Temples of Traian Dianisos, Athena, Hera and Demeter. The Theatre with 15.000 seats is the sloppiest one.

For not to say more and to allow the interested ones to discover the others venues that Pergame offers, the students and lecturers who will participate to the Summer School of UMAR in BERGAMA are expected to produce a renovated work for the recent expectations of the city.

The renovations of the old quarter nearby the Basilica (highest temple in Anatolia stated even in Bible) are subjected to works of students of 3rd year or over in architecture. The Restoration Bureau of the Municipality is plainly involved in this project. They have already realised one part of the works in this quarter. But there are lot to do.

EUROMED III - Cultural and architectural Heritage Project of E.C. keeps its interests to this project which is considered as one of the "World's architectural heritage". The complementary works that will be realised during the Workshop, may/will contribute to obtain the funds for its progress.

All those who wish to be a part of this important project will be welcomed and hosted by the Bergama Municipality. The Chamber of Architects of Izmir and The Dean and Professors of Faculty of Architecture of 9th September University in İzmir (90 km from Bergama) brings their full support to the Workshop.

The participants will stay in a recently constructed student's resident in Bergama High School and will work in the studio placed at the upper floor of the Municipality Library (historical building from Ottoman Period) arranged for this purpose. Site works will be in an environment of a helpful and hosting population. Seashores and other attractive historical sites like Dikili, Ayvalık, Ören, Troy is in close distances.
