Ursula von Petz, professor of planning theory and town planning, Aachen
(Germany); Stefano Boeri, architect, Milan (Italy); Adriaan Geuze, landscape

37th ISoCARP Congress (September 2001).

Workshops in parallel sessions
The workshops will cover different aspects of the four topics. Speakers include:
Bernd Hunger, GdW Bundesverband Deutsches Wohnungsunternehmen, Berlin (Germany);
Alain Lipietz, geographer, member of European Parliament (France); Catherine
Trautmann, former minister of culture, former mayor of Strasbourg (France);
Milan Turba, director of strategic planning, Prague (Czech Republic);
representatives from the cities participating in the exhibition; selected
authors of accepted papers.

Excursions
Visits to various Dutch cities with visible examples of specific problems - and
solutions - relevant to the theme 'Cultures of Cities': Rotterdam (waterfront
development, new residential areas, 'city safaris', leisure centres and shopping
malls, exhibitions on housing and urban planning); Amsterdam (development of
newly reclaimed land, cultural development on the waterfront, multicultural
housing projects); The Hague (city centre renewal); Den Bosch (restructuring of
city walls); Almere (new town centre, retail and leisure development).

Optional: boat trip with dinner through the Port of Rotterdam
Saturday, September 22

Continuation of workshops in parallel sessions on the four topics:
Elaboration of subjects in the light of experiences from the excursions
