Uluslararası Milenyum Kongresi "Archi 2000" 
10-12 Eylül 2001 Paris

Overview
The Congress will provide an overview of researches, studies and state-of-the-art of knowledge in different fields of architectural heritage related to the conservation and restoration of monuments, buildings, historic towns, archaeological sites and other structures built from the earliest times till the end of the 19th century.
The Congress will highlight the role that different techniques, technologies and materials have played in the history of architecture, their relationship with the environmental conditions in different parts of the world (climate, seismically, etc.).
A special session will be devoted to the structures of the 20th century and to the perspectives for the third millennium.
The Congress will be concluded with a panel discussion whose aim is to propose concrete project proposal for the region likely to find international sponsorship.

Themes
- Historical and philosophical aspects. History of techniques, technologies, equipments and development of theoretical and experimental analyses.
- Analogies and differences in the development of structural conception and architectural forms in the world. Influences of local culture, environment, climate, seismically and other factors will also be considered.
- Mutual influence between architectural and structural aspects.
- Social and economic aspects of conservation and restoration of architectural heritage.
- Analysis of the causes of damage and collapse. Investigation and monitoring systems. Maintenance, preventive measures and risk preparedness.
- Conservation, consolidation and restoration. Comparative advantages and disadvantages of traditional and new materials. Reversibility.
- Structural analysis, mathematical models and safety evaluation.
- Information systems as support for analysis of architectural heritage.
- Case studies: presentation of key case studies in which the above-mentioned aspects are of particular significance.

The Congress is a unique opportunity for architects, engineers, curators, historians, archaeologists, researchers, contractors, government officials and other professionals involved in the conservation and restoration of our architectural heritage to share their experience and knowledge in different disciplines and in different parts of the world.
