10x5 cm containing the “Porada” and “Consorzio Polidesign” logos; at

- Prof. Makio Hasuike, Faculty of Design, Politecnico di Milano;
- Mr. Jun Nieda, japanese operator;

The jury will meet as many times that it deems necessary in order to examine
the material received. The proceedings of the jury’s meetings will not be
published; a final report will be published, with the prize-winners for each
category, along with commended and selected entries. The jury’s decisions are
decided by majority vote; its decisions are final and indisputable. The jury
will complete its work by 21st October 2002.
7. Criteria used for evaluation
The selection and evaluation of the designs will consider: their originality,
their degree of innovation with reference to typical processing techniques
applied to solid wood, experimentation in materials and surface finish, the
specifically functional, ergonomic, safety-related and environmental
characteristics of the products, the capability of the designs in defining and
anticipating innovative modes of use for contemporary furniture and accessories
made for children. A user-centred design approach, starting from an analysis of
the users’ specific requirements in terms of interaction with the world of
objects, will be particularly appreciated.
8. Prizes and recognition
The total prize money, € 8,000.00, will be subdivided as follows:
Professionals category:
1st prize € 2,500.00
2nd prize € 1,000.00

2nd prize € 1,000.00
3rd prize € 500.00

the respective categories.
The Porada Company also has the possibility of offering the winner of the
non-professionals category a three-month paid work-experience stage in the
company.
9. Rights of exploitation and ownership of the works
Participants in the competition maintain the ownership and rights of
exploitation of their works. They agree not to cede these rights to third
parties during the period of one year from the competition deadline. The Porada
Company reserves the right to enter into a contract with the authors of the
prize-winning or commended designs for the industrial exploitation of the
designs. The participants grant Porada the option to use the prize-winning
designs for the period of one year from the date of the jury’s report. Within
this period, the Porada Company will evaluate the possibility of putting the
designs into production, and in the case of production, the business
relationship with the designer will be governed by a specific contract. The
Porada Company agrees not to modify the designs presented in any way without the
respective designers’ agreement. The Porada Company may request a one-year
option on designs that have not won prize, in return for a payment that will be
agreed between the parties.
10. Information and publication of results
The results of the jury’s considerations will be communicated to the winners
within the specified dates, by means of e-mail and/or telegram. The Porada
Company will present the competition to the specialist press, and the
competition results will be announced during an event for which information will
be issued in due course.
All participants expressly authorise the Porada Company to exhibit their
designs in public (exhibition and various other types of event) and to publish
their designs in a catalogue or in specialist publications; nothing will be owed
to the participants for this, excepting the obligation of citing the authors’
names.
11. Return of competition materials
The materials entered into the competition can be collected within a period of
thirty days following the announcement of the prize-winners. After this period,
the organisers decline all responsibility for the conservation of the
competition materials. The competition organisers decline all responsibility in
the case of loss, theft or deterioration of the materials. The materials for
which the Company has expressed an option will be conserved by the Porada

mutually-agreed arrangements.

subjects concerning personal data processing, the participants in the
competition expressly authorise the competition organisers to process their
