Professionals and Students
Enter your most inspired design and see how it measures up against the best work
from your peers all around the world. You can compete in four major
disciplines—Building, Manufacturing, Digital Media, and GIS/Mapping and Civil
Engineering. Separate competitions will be held for professionals and students
in each discipline. Experts in each field will judge your work on qualities like
innovation, technical expertise, and design and visual excellence.
Win Cool Prizes (Plus the Envy of Your Peers)
Grand Prize Winners will receive: a four-night trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, plus
spending money, to attend Autodesk University (December 2-5, 2003); Autodesk®
or Discreet® software products; and an Autodesk Design Award trophy.
Prizes

Entry Categories:
Twelve Grand Prizes will be awarded across the following categories (and based
on the criteria outlined below).
Building:
- Student using any of the Autodesk products listed in the Professional
categories below
- Professional using AutoCAD® or AutoCAD LT®
- Professional using Autodesk® Architectural Desktop, Autodesk® Revit®, or
Autodesk® Building Systems
Manufacturing
- Student: Any design created using Autodesk Inventor
- Professional: Machine and Electromechanical Design created using Autodesk
Inventor®
- Professional: Consumer Design created using Autodesk Inventor
GIS/Mapping and Civil Engineering:
- Student using products such as Autodesk® Civil Series, Autodesk® Civil
Design, Autodesk® Land Desktop, or Autodesk Map™
- Professional in GIS/Mapping using products such as Autodesk Map™ Series or
Autodesk Map
- Professional in Civil Engineering using products such as Autodesk Civil
Series, Autodesk Civil Design, or Autodesk Land Desktop
Digital Media:
- Student in Animation, Modeling, or Visual Effects using products such as 3ds
max®, combustion®, flame®, inferno®, or flint®
- Professional in Visual Effects using products such as combustion, flame,
inferno, or flint
- Professional in Animation or Modeling using products such as 3ds max *Grand
prize winners must be 21 years of age or older. Student winners under the age of
21 will receive a $1,000 scholarship in lieu of the trip to Autodesk University
2003.
Enter by October 7, 2003
To be eligible to win, you must submit your work online or by mail by October
7, 2003. You must also be a current registered user of Autodesk or Discreet
software.
To be eligible you must be a current user of Autodesk® or Discreet®
software, and comply with terms and conditions of the contest for your
particular industry category (read the full terms and conditions).
Students
To be eligible as a design student, you must be 13 years of age or older, and
able to provide proof of current enrollment at an accredited educational
institution in spring 2003. You must provide a copy of your current or most
recent registration card to confirm enrollment.
Professionals
To be eligible as a design professional, you must be a salaried individual
practicing either part- or full-time in any of the four categories.
Entries will be accepted in the following categories:
Building: includes architecture, interior design, building systems engineering,
and design-build
Manufacturing: includes machinery design, tool and die design, product design,
manufacturing analysis, and manufacturing
Digital Media: includes visual effects, 3D broadcast graphics, animation, and
game development GIS/Mapping and Civil Engineering: includes mapping and civil
engineering; outside plant and infrastructure design and management; surveying;
land, city, and environmental planning; electrical network design; and
geographic information systems. Infrastructure examples: roads, railroads,
airports, seaports, subdivisions, electricity, gas, pipelines, water,
wastewater, telephone, cable television, land ownership, parcels, tax
assessment, public works, public safety.
Judging Criteria
Each of the four categories will be judged on its own set of criteria. Each
criterion will be worth a number of points. Read more about the Judging
Criteria.
How to Enter
Entries may be posted online to the Registration page, at
www.autodesk.com/designawards, or mailed to Autodesk Design Awards 2003, 16055
West Stratton Road, New Berlin, WI 53151, USA.
Entries must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on
October 7, 2003.
