The municipal authorities of the city of La Paz (Bolivia) announce an international project competition, anonymous and in one stage, for the creation of a vast urban park in the centre of the city. The competition is open to architects world-wide, individually or in teams.

This competition, which is in conformity with the UNESCO/UIA regulations for international competitions, has been approved by the International Union of Architects (UIA).

COMPETITION PROGRAMME

The Municipality of La Paz has listed 27 zones, sites and buildings as part of the city’s landscape heritage in order to guarantee their protection and preservation. It has decided to revitalise a very run-down urban zone on which will be developed a central urban park, the first stage of a development strategy to generate a green urban fabric in the city and its outskirts.

The park should permit interaction between nature and culture, ecology and technology, craftsmanship and industry, natural and cultural heritage.

It must also include educational spaces for children and youths and contribute to the promotion of human resources and strategies capable of fighting against poverty and encouraging creative aptitudes through leisure activities.
