25 years old this year, Cambrian slate from Redland has become a landmark design for roof tiles. To celebrate, we invite you to restyle the roof of that signature building you have always wanted to improve. Maybe reroof St Pauls? Top off Canary Wharf? Dome Didcot power station? With the Cambrian slate competition, now you can!
Simply go to www.cambrian-competition.co.uk, download any of the images available, or choose a building of your own choice, and put a new roof on it. Your approach can be conventional, controversial or political, hand rendered or digitally based, what we need is your imagination to develop something special.
You can win an architectural tour to Istanbul, European Capital of Culture 2010, and for every entry returned we'll also contribute £5 to CRASH, so get designing!
Terms & Conditions
1. Only one entry per architect, more than one architect per practice is entitled to enter.
2. All entrants must be aged 18 years or over.
3. No entries will be accepted after the 21st May 2010.
4. The judges' decision is final.
5. The organisers do not accept any responsibility for entries that are lost in transit.
6. Entries will be accepted in hand rendered or CAD format and may be delivered by post or by electronic method.
7. By submitting an entry in the 2010 "MONIER - Make a little bit of history,
put a new roof on it" competition, each entrant confirms and warrants that
he is the sole author of his entry, that it is his original work and that
he is the sole owner of all intellectual property rights in it. He also
agrees to assign all such intellectual property rights to Monier Limited,
including the right to publish the entry The winner and runners-up agree to take part in post-competition promotion.
8. There are no cash substitutes available instead of the stated prize.
9. The stated prize is an Architectural Tour to Istanbul in 2010. All taxes, insurances, spending money and other expenses are the sole responsibility of the prizewinner
10. Competition prize must be taken Off peak (September - March).
11. The competition organiser (Monier) are entitled to substitute the main competition prize, to the same value, at any time without pre-warning.
12. No purchases of Monier products are necessary.
13. No entries will be accepted from employees of MONIER, the organisers or their suppliers.
14. By returning their entries, applicants accept the above conditions and rules.
15. The 2010 Competition is carried out exclusively in conjunction with the Architects Journal.
16. Every effort will be made to return all entries to the competition entrants after the end of the competition.
17. The donation to CRASH is limited to a maximum of £1000 for this competition.
18. Any personal tax will NOT be covered by MONIER.
19. Neither CIB Communications, the Architects Journal nor Monier Limited
accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury (except for death or
personal injury) or disappointment suffered by any entrant in
participating in the competition or as a result of accepting the prize.
