Students are invited to investigate what the future holds for hotel design in the age of advanced technology and customized consumer experiences. Fifty years from now, the design of resort hotels and the experience of their guests are certain to be influenced by technologies that are in development today.

This unique, digital design competition seeks original ideas about the scale and scope of changes in the hospitality industry.

Working individually or in teams, students will first need to consider the journey to the destination, whether in orbit, under the sea, or in an urban setting. The design of the resort itself will need to incorporate the latest uses of structural and material systems, form development, and information technology.

The results will be packaged into a digital submission containing the design of a resort hotel for the year 2055 with a minimum of 100 guest rooms and facilities for a wide variety of public and private functions. What possibilities are there to transform hospitality in 2055?

Awards
Winning students and their faculty sponsors will receive cash prizes totaling $17,000, including an award of $2,000 for best submission created in Autodesk® Revit® Building. The design jury will meet in June 2006 to select winning projects and honorable mentions.

Submission
All entries will be delivered in new media or digital format with electronic presentation of the project no longer than five minutes. Entries may be submitted on CD in either PowerPoint or Web browser-based presentation format or on a self-starting DVD.

Eligibility
The competition is open to all students at ACSA full- and affiliate-member schools internationally.
