"The 2008 Design NSW: Travelling Scholarship" will assist a NSW designer at the beginning of their career to undertake a residency and program of professional development overseas. The recipient of the award will be announced during Sydney Design 08 at the Powerhouse Museum and featured in the festival program and on dhub.org. The British Council will assist the recipient with a residency and program of professional development in the UK by facilitating introductions to up to eight leading practitioners relevant to the winner's field and providing support and advice from British Council staff. The scholarship money can also be used for additional, approved, professional development activities.

The scholarship is offered by the New South Wales Government in partnership with the Powerhouse Museum and the British Council.

Eligibility
Applicants should be within the first five years of their professional practice as a designer. (Professional practice, for the purpose of this scholarship is generally understood to be the completion of an undergraduate degree.) The scholarship is open to designers working in the broad areas of product and communication design (including for the home, industry and the body). The scholarship is not intended for established designers or designers of the built environment.
