Sponsored annually by Cooper Lighting since 1977, The Source Awards were established to further the understanding, knowledge and function of lighting as a primary element of design. In addition to the standard requirements listed below, this year's competition also seeks creative use of fixtures providing energy efficient design solutions.

Eligibility
The competition is open to all lighting designers, architects, engineers, professional designers and consultants who have used Cooper Lighting fixtures in a completed interior or exterior lighting design project.

Students currently enrolled in an educational program representing the interior design, architectural, lighting or engineering disciplines are eligible to enter a conceptual lighting design project which utilizes Cooper Lighting fixtures. These conceptual entries will be judged in a separate student category.

Entries must be postmarked on or before 01 January 2009.

All entries must be accompanied by an entry form which can be downloaded from the Cooper Lighting website.

Employees of Cooper Lighting, including family members, and any company and its employees who have a business relationship with Cooper Lighting are excluded from entering The Source Awards.

Judging for the 32nd annual competition will take place in February 2009, by a professional, independent panel of lighting and design professionals, as well as a representative of The Source Cooper Lighting Center.

There are no minimum or maximum number of awards given, each project will be judged on its own merit.

- Crystal trophy in recognition of the project’s excellence and the application of Cooper Lighting products
- Winner receives a 2.000 Dollars cash award
- Local and national recognition through publicity and advertising
-Invitation to attend a lighting seminar of choice at The Source Cooper Lighting Center (many seminars qualify for CEU/LEU credits)

Students
- Crystal trophy in recognition of the project’s conceptual design excellence and the application of Cooper Lighting products - Winner receives a 1.500 Dollars cash award
- Invitation to attend a lighting seminar of choice (along with their faculty advisor) at The Source Cooper Lighting Center
