Architecture and Books Structure as Space: Engineering and Architecture in the Works of Jürg Conzett and his Partners

Swiss structural engineer Jürg Conzett is best known for his innovative footbridges of wood, steel, and concrete. Redefining the role of the structural engineer in the architectural process, Conzett has collaborated with architects Meili & Peter on the Zurich Stadium, and with architect Peter Zumthor on the Hanover Expo pavilion. Emphasizing the building process, not the finished object, this volume presents the work of Conzett and his partners, including drawings, structural diagrams, and photographs.

Mohsen Mostafavi is Dean of the College of Architecture, Art and Planning at Cornell University. Previously, he served as chairman of the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. Mostafavi is author of Landscape Urbanism: A Manual for the Machinic Landscape (AA Publications, 2004), Logique Visuelle (Idea Books, 2003), and Surface Architecture (MIT, 2002), which received the CICA Bruno Zevi Book Award.
