The Argentine - born architect Jorge Silvetti founded the Boston - based Machado and Silvetti Associates with Rodolfo Machado in 1974. Working in architecture and urban design, the Boston-based firm is known for its sensitive public spaces and interest in historical continuity. Last year, Machado and Silvetti completed a renovation and expansion of the Getty Villa in Malibu. New York Times architecture critic Nicolai Ouroussoff called the work “exquisite;” “an elaborate architectural narrative” that “approaches the historical past with the scholarly attention normally reserved for real ancient ruins.” Current projects include a master plan for Beirut’s Citadel Square, and a renovation of the Walker Museum of Art at Maine’s Bowdoin College.
