The exhibition “If we lived in Heritage Sites ” and the accompanying publication introduce the prospective works of the students at the École d'Architecture de la Ville & des Territoires in Marne - la - Vallée for the conversion of buildings with distinctive Parisian heritage into residential homes.
The architect Dominique Lyon directs the thought process which invites you to “live in these extraordinary spaces where each person has a desire to be. We're introducing the most vivid aspect: Us; not the image, but the mundane.”
Ten heritage sites were thus reworked by the young architectural teams who created projects which go beyond the norms and rules by which residential homes and heritage sites are built. And so the visitor discovers a townhouse in the former municipal funeral home (104 rue d'Aubervilliers), duplex apartments in the Grand Palais and homes in the express buildings of the Gare d'Austerlitz with views on the Eiffel Tower, the Palais de Tokyo or even the Palais de Chaillot…
This study focuses on the following buildings: the Grand Palais, the Petit Palais, the Palais de Tokyo, the Palais de Chaillot (north wing), the Magasins Généraux of the Gare d'Austerlitz , the express buildings of Gare d'Austerlitz (Sernam depots), the former municipal funeral home (104 rue d'Aubervilliers), the Carreau du Temple, the fourth span in the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie and the Molitor swimming pool.
