Since its inception in 2004 the London Architecture Biennale has grown exponentially – it has attracted increasing numbers of visitors from the public as well as the professions. To meet the expected demand in 2008 for the Biennale’s events a number of significant changes will take place. The duration of the event will increase from one week to one month; there will be five foci of activity - Bloomsbury / Covent Garden, Clerkenwell / City, Southwark / South Bank, Canary Wharf and South Kensington. A different centre will be the location of special highlight events on each of the five weekends of the Biennale.

The theme of the biennale is "Fresh"! This reflects our interest in fresh thinking, in new ideas, new talent; fresh cultures; fresh air – a pollution free and sustainable London; fresh food – reducing food miles and its impact on local planning.

The LAB Student Festival will run concurrently with the main event; students of architecture will work with local schools to develop and build installations that reflect aspects of their local environment.

The Biennale will have an international dimension inviting embassies to display work of young architects and fresh talent from their countries.

The aim of the London Biennale is to highlight, discuss and celebrate architecture and urban design in the city; its activities are deeply embedded in the culture of the capital and its popularity reflects the increasing interest of Londoners in the major changes taking place in their city.
