The Oslo Triennale, which takes place in Oslo 27th - 5th October, is the third in a series of international architectural triennales arranged by the National Association of Norwegian Architects, NAL.

The aim is to develop the triennale as a regular arrangement every third year, Norway and the Nordic countries need a high profiled international arena for architecture and new thinking which explores, debates and engages.

The Oslo Triennale is arranged in collaboration with the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, Norsk Form, OAF (Oslo Association of Architects) and Oslo Teknopol. Oslo Triennale is a non - profit arrangement relying substantially on independent efforts, public funding and private sponsors.

This year’s theme, the Culture of Risk, deals with the will towards new thinking. Through a series of activities the triennale will enthuse, challenge and inspire towards innovative thought. The theme will contribute to focusing attention on our potential for new thinking, both with regards to what Norway as a nation represents and what we can become.

Curator
Oslo Triennale’s curator is Gary Bates from the architectural office Space Group in Oslo. Bates is educated in USA and has worked with internationally high profile architects such as Rem Koolhaas and Daniel Libeskind. He has the necessary distance to Nowegian architecture and urban development, which provides a good ground for a deep critique of the triennale’s theme.

Alexandra Cruz, the assistant curator, also an architect in Space Group, has broad experience in this field of work in Portugal.
