The conference CROSSING BORDERS - BRIDGING GAPS towards innovative planning for and design of sustainable infrastructure held in Stockholm, Sweden 2-4 December 2009.
Sustainable built environment, cities and urban development are highly topical subjects on the political agenda of European countries and international bodies.
The EFAP Conference focuses on issues which in various ways shed light on the planning and design of infrastructure and the role of experts, politicians and architects therein, the aim being to promote an interchange of experience in this field and to articulate the issues in the architectural policies of the various countries.
During the Conference they wish to highlight instances of cities which in their urban development have actively worked to design or redesign mobility spaces in a creative and innovative way. They also want to study the path leading there - how co-operation between different parties and players proceeds and how urban and infrastructure planning can be integrated. They aim at presenting Swedish examples and invite other countries to comment them.
On the basis of current (Swedish and foreign) instances, it will also be discussed how architectural policy can support development in the field of urban development and, above all perhaps, infrastructure, and vice versa.
The Ministry of Culture, the Swedish Museum of Architecture and the Swedish Association of Architects bid you all welcome to Stockholm and the EFAP Conference.
The conference will be held in English.
