New Housing New York encourages respondents to form creative teams. Each team is required to include a NYS registered architect and a developer, and may incorporate others as desired. As our project is a follow-up to the 2004 NHNY Design Ideas Competition, which drew entries from many young architects, we encourage established firms to partner with emerging designers and developers.

To help facilitate creative teaming, we have set up an NHNY online networking site and a corresponding networking reception at the June 19 kick-off event. Architects and developers can post mission statements on our networking website and describe the firms with whom they would like to team. The kick-off event presents an opportunity for potential RFP respondents to show their firms’ portfolios (paper or battery-powered laptop) and to connect with other developers and designers. Images uploaded to our website by June 16 will be displayed in a running slideshow during the event

The evening will be co-hosted by Laurie Hawkinson and Ric Scofidio. Ms. Hawkinson is a professor of Architecture at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture Preservation and Planning and a partner at Smith-Miller + Hawkinson Architects. Mr. Scofidio is a partner at Diller Scofidio + Renfro.
