The ceremony will be followed by the official opening of the exhibition. After just 5 editions, the Dedalo Minosse Prize has already become one of the most important architectural awards in the world, a kind of Pritzker, with the strength of its peculiarity of being targeted at the client rather than the architect. Owing to the enormous number of competitors (over 500 works registered in the contest to compete for the award) the work of the Jury is particularly demanding. It is composed of: Stanislao Nievo, Chairman, writer and one of the founders of the WWF; Dante O. Benini, architect; Paolo Caoduro, the main sponsor; Cesare Maria Casati, editor of the review l'Arca; Odile Decq, architect; Bruno Gabbiani, chairman of the association ALA Assoarchitetti; Giovanni Gabetti, real estate agent; Guido Gentili, editor of the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore; Richard Haslam, art historian; Hideto Horiike, architect of the client who won the 2002 edition; Boris Podrecca, architect; Adriano Rasi Caldogno, general secretary for planning in the Veneto Region; Roberto Tretti, chairman of the Centro Studio per le Libere Professioni (Study Centre for the Private Professions); the architects Stefano Battaglia and Marcella Gabbiani for ALA. The "top designers" of world architecture along with the most promising architects of the new and very new generation will compete in the various sections of the award, to prove the prestige of an Italian Award that, as sometimes happens, is better known abroad than in Italy. International interest in the "Dedalo Minosse" is confirmed by the presence for the opening in Vicenza of delegations from the most important international associations of architects, including the American Institute of Architects, and the fact that, as was the case in the previous edition, the winning works will be exhibited throughout the world, in ten capitals, selected by the Organizers from the 44 capitals that applied to host the exhibition.
