Turkey Today
18 Eylül - 13 Kasım 2004, ARCAM - Amsterdam

In the period in which the European Union is to decide whether Turkey can join the EU, ARCAM is organizing an exhibition about contemporary Turkish architecture:

Turkey Today: Contemporary Turkish architecture in Turkey and the Netherlands.

Boran Ekinci: Marina Fethiye

The focus of the exhibition is a selection of projects in Turkey, which together are representative of architectural developments from 1980 to the present day. Work by some ten architects, all high-profile names in Turkey, will be shown with photographs, impressions, sketches and floor plans.

In order to place the contemporary architecture in context, the exhibition will include a brief introduction to Turkey's rich architectural history.

Han Tümertekin: B2 House

An overview of projects involving Turkish clients and/or architects shows how the cultural exchange between the Netherlands and Turkey is taking shape in the Netherlands today. By keeping away from multicultural issues and problems, the exhibition makes an original and fresh contribution to the creation of a more balanced picture of contemporary Turkey.

The exhibition will be on view at ARCAM from 18 September until 13 November 2004, with texts in Dutch, Turkish and English. During Amsterdam's Museum Night on 6 November, ARCAM's programme will be devoted entirely to Turkey.
