Tarih: 15 Ocak - 15 Mayıs 2005 OPEN: new designs for public space, an exhibition produced by New York’s Van Alen Institute, examines how America defines, designs, and protects public space in an age of heightened security and increased electronic interaction. This discussion is especially relevant in a post-September 11th society that values the rights of the freedom of speech and assembly, and desires to remain free and open, yet also seeks to control public space and provide a sense of safety for its citizens. OPEN: new designs for public space has been organized by the Van Alen Institute: Projects in Public Architecture. The exhibition has been made possible by generous grants from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the Stephen A. and Diane L. Goldberg Foundation. At the National Building Museum, OPEN is made possible by the American Society of Landscape Architects, the American Planning Association, EDAW, Inc., the National Capital Planning Commission, and ULI-the Urban Land Institute.
