Fantasy Architecture: 1500 - 2036
29 Ocak - 09 Nisan 2005, Lancashire - İngiltere |
An
exhibition of imagined buildings, structures and schemes –from designs for
palaces by medieval masters to futuristic film sets–featuring the work of
visionary figures as diverse as Andrea Palladio, Inigo Jones, Robert Adam,
Étienne-Louis Boullée, John Soane, Joseph Paxton, Edwin Lutyens, Lubetkin,
Archigram, MVRDV, FAT and Foreign Office Architects. A wealth of historical and
contemporary drawings are included alongside paintings, models, collage, film
and computer renderings of designs for buildings that might have changed our
lives, or could still do so.
Organised by the Hayward Gallery in collaboration with the Royal Institute of
British Architects, this new National Touring Exhibition opens in Sunderland
before touring to Salford, Walsall and Preston. Fantasy Architecture will be
accompanied by a full colour catalogue illustrating all the works in the
exhibition. It includes texts by the exhibition’s selectors Neil Bingham, Clare
Carolin and Rob Wilson, and a personal meditation on the subject of fantasy
architecture by the former member of Archigram, Peter Cook.
