P.S.1 and Delano Greenidge Editions, SVA, and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy is organising a symposium to celebrate the May 2005 publication of "The Death of Photography and Other Modern Fables on the Visual Arts". Bill Beckley, Samuel Jamier, Siri Hustvedt, Winfried Noeth, Max Kozloff and Renee Cox will be attending to this symposium.

The Death of Photography and Other Modern Fables on the Visual Arts is an anthology of writings that at different points call into question the role of the photographic image in our day to day life, in the media, in digital society, in books, in magazines, in art and journalism, in exhibitions, on billboards, in posters and to a lesser degree, in film. Starting with an analysis of the role of the photography in digital society, this book also includes classic essays on the photograph by Susan Sontag, Roland Barthes, Walter Benjamin, Marshall McLuhan, and John Berger, among the more than thirty essays. The Death of Photography is published by Delano Greenidge Editions and School of Visual Arts.
