Invitation
OITAF and the [x]-Institut für experimentellen Hochbau at the University of
Innsbruck invite all students at Departments and Schools of Architecture
worldwide to participate in a design competition on projects for transportation
by rope.
The competition calls for visionary
projects that are going to be presented at the 9th International Congress for
Transportation by Rope in Innsbruck/Austria from September 27 to October 1 2005.
Subject
of.f. lines is not going to be telling merely 'of lines' (or rather ropes
and cables). The competition aims for innovative approaches to the subject of
transportation between different ground levels and concepts for high altitude
transportation that exceed the common notion of cable-cars.
A printed catalogue is intended to be
available to a larger audience, containing a selection of projects and a list of
all submitted projects alongside the names of the participants.
The competition committee intends
further publication in a hardcover book or on CD-ROM.
Awards
The winning entries will be awarded with the following prizes:
First Prize EURO 3.000,-
Second Prize EURO 2.000,-
Third Prize EURO 1.000,-
The jury will also grant 4 honourable
mentions, awarded with EURO 500,- each.
The winning entries and a selection
of the submitted projects will be published at the International Congress held
by OITAF in Innsbruck.

Registration will be possible until submission deadline.
Submission Requirements
The official language of the competition is English.
Participants are requested to submit
their projects with the following specifications:
-2 Drawing boards
2 Print outs, each with dimensions of 50cm in width and 70cm in height. For
easier handling it is suggested to submit the drawings printed out on paper,
rolled and sent via mail in cardboard-tubes or similar.
Each board must be labelled with an 8
digit registration code (1 cm by 8 cm in size) in the upper right corner!
Maximum formats need to be obeyed!
-CD-ROM
CD-ROM with image files of submitted boards.
file format jpeg (*.jpg) colour mode cmyk (32-bit)
dimensions 2953 x 4134 pixel (equals 50x70 board with 150dpi)
resolution 150 dpi
file names the 8 digit registration code plus the letter 'A' for drawing board
01 and the letter 'B' for drawing board 02 (e.g. registration code 123456, file
number 01 has to be named 12345678A.jpg and file number 02 12345678B.jpg
CD-ROM also must be labelled with the
8 digit registration code.

Registration form in a white envelope, to be sealed and labelled with the 8
digit
registration code. The registration form will be downloadable from the
competition website.
Apart from above formal requirements
the type of presentation is to be chosen freely by the participants (number of
drawings, text, diagrams, photos, visualisations, ...).

Copyright
The entries will not be returned to the participants.
The competition committee reserves
the right to organise further exhibitions and publications of submitted projects
after the Congress in Innsbruck.
In the case of a printed publication
the copyright of submitted material will be transferred to the publisher.
Copyright for ideas and the right to make further use of projects remain with
the participants.
By submission participants
acknowledge authorship for their projects. Competition committee and jury cannot
be made responsible for unauthorized use or duplication of copyrighted work.
Publication
Awarded and additionally selected entries will be presented to an
international audience at the 9th International Congress for Transportation by
Rope in Innsbruck/Austria from September 27 to October 1 2005.
An exhibition of the chosen projects
and a projected presentation of digital images will be held at this event and
possibly in further locations.
A printed catalogue is intended to be
available to a larger audience, containing a selection of projects and a list of

OITAF
O.I.T.A.F. was founded in Rome in 1957 on the occasion of the 1st International
Congress for Transportation by Rope. It is open to all administrative entities,
institutions, companies and persons who are interested in technical, legal,
administrative or economic problems in connection with transportation by rope.
The 9th Congress will take place from
27th September to 01 October 2005 in Innsbruck/Austria and will deal with the
topics of 'Visions, Trends and Lifestyle' discussed in a number of expert
lectures given by top-class speakers from all over the world. The Congress also
welcomes non-members of OITAF who are interested in the industry.' |
