The International Competition invites members of the architectural, planning, surveying, engineering, interior design, landscaping and related professional fields and the general public from Hong Kong, the Mainland and overseas to contribute ideas and concepts on the proposed project of "Bruce Lee's Residence" at No.41 Cumberland Road, Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong.

Purpose of Competition
- To invite creative ideas for restoring the late Mr. Bruce Lee's former residence and
optimising the use of space of the property; and
- To engage the community in the restoration project, with a view to converting the
residence to a tourism attraction in memory of Mr. Bruce Lee's contribution to the
development of martial arts and the film industry.

Background
The property located at No. 41 Cumberland Road, Kowloon Tong is the former residence of international film star Mr. Bruce Lee. The property owner, Mr. Yu Pang-lin, has agreed to donate the property to the Government with a view to restoring and preserving the original appearance of Bruce Lee's residence, which will be opened for visit by members of the public and visitors. The restored residence is to commemorate Bruce Lee's contributions to the film industry and martial arts, and is expected to attract visitors from all over the world to pay tribute to one of the greatest legends of our time.

Registration
Interested Participants should first register in the Competition by submitting the duly completed and signed entry form to the Professional Advisor by fax or email on or before 31 August 2009.

Entry Submission
Entries can be sent by post or delivered by hand, and must reach the following address between 09:00, 12 October 2009 and 12:00, 15 October 2009:

Entry Groups
There are two competition groups, namely the Professional Group and the Open Group.

The Professional Group Competition is open to all fellow or full members of the professional institutes of architects, planners, surveyors, engineers, interior designers and landscape architects in Hong Kong, the Mainland and overseas. Collaborative Entries by members of the same profession or different professions are permitted and the members shall nominate a leading member in the Entry Form. All members of a collaborative Entry must be individuals. There is no limitation on the number of Entries each individual member may submit and there is no limitation on the number of collaborative Entries in which each individual member may participate.

The Open Group Competition is open to the general public from Hong Kong, the Mainland and overseas. Professionals in the aforementioned categories who have submitted Entries or are submitting Entries for the Professional Group Competition are not allowed to enter or participate in preparation of Entries in the Open Group Competition. Collaborative Entries are permitted and members shall nominate a leading member in the Entry Form. All members of a collaborative Entry must be individuals. There is no limitation on the number of Entries each individual member may submit and there is no limitation on the number of collaborative Entries in which each individual member may participate.

Enquiries by Participants
Participants may make enquiries regarding the details of the Competition to the Professional Advisor by post, fax or email on or before 15 September 2009.

Adjudication Guidelines
All Entries will be judged in accordance with the broad adjudication guidelines as interpreted by the Jury. The decisions of the Jury shall be final and binding on all parties concerned and decisions cannot be appealed against. The broad adjudication guidelines are:

- Addressing the objectives
- Creativity
- Feasibility, Practicality & Buildability
- Harmonization with the neighbourhood

Prizes
Three Winning Entries and ten Merit Entries will be selected in both Professional Group and the Open Group. The results of the Competition will be announced through the mass media. Participants of the Winning Entries and Merit Entries will be notified directly of the results by post or fax by the Professional Advisor. The prizes of the Winning Entries and Merit Entries shall be:

Professional Group
First Prize: 50.000 HK Dollars Cash Coupon and a Trophy
Second Prize: 25.000 HK Dollars Cash Coupon and a Trophy
Third Prize: 12.500 HK Dollars Cash Coupon and a Trophy
Certificate for 10 Merit Entries

Open Group
First Prize: Trophy
Second Prize: Trophy
Third Prize: Trophy
Certificate for 10 Merit Entries

Language and Time
Entries shall be made in English or Chinese.

In the case of any discrepancy between the English version and Chinese version of the Competition Document, the English version shall prevail.

Throughout the course of the Competition, time mentioned in the Competition Document shall be Hong Kong time.
