Changes in the living environment are the consequence of impact and flow of time. Space for living is inseparable from architecture, where architecture and time are in constant mutual conjunction. We invite all the students of architecture to think about the phenomenon and meaning of time in a new and different way and to use that in design of a concrete and impressionable solution - urban furniture.

What?
The challenge of the task is to offer an original concept that would lead to the final product, which would be represented through a certain category, material, and ratios. The aim is to accomplish consistency in the designing process. Therefore, it is necessary to take care of originality and contribution, both through the idea/concept and through the elaboration/details. In all that, it is necessary to have in mind that contemporary design is inseparable from environmental protection that is possible to achieve through the designing and planning processes as well. Thus, urban furniture should be designed in the way that will simultaneously contribute to preservation of the environment.

The competition will be carried out in several stages, concluding with practical realisation of the best solutions, selected by an expert jury. During the first jury cycle, at least five best solutions will be selected. After that, they will be produced within the workshop by their authors. A seminar will also be organised within the workshop, on selected topics. The participants of the workshop will be all the authors of the selected solutions, members of the RestArt group www.teamrestart.com, and lecturers and experts in the fields of architecture and urban design. After four days of practical work, the completed urban furniture pieces will be displayed in the open park, within the premises of the Manual Forgotten Arts Museum M.F.A.M. in Novi Sad www.themanualco.com and the best produced and designed solutions will be selected and rewarded. It is possible to submit the works for the competition in Serbian and in English.
WHO?

The competition is open for all the students of basic, Bachelor and Master Studies of architecture from Serbia and from abroad. It is possible to participate at the competition individually or within a team. The competition is also open for students of other faculties. However, in that case it is necessary that one student at least is the student of architecture. The team work is recommended, since the proposals selected by an expert jury will also be produced. The number of participants in a team is limited to 3 (three) members.

How?
It is necessary to design and plan urban furniture within one of the offered categories:

Categories

1. Natural

2. Artificial

3. Unprocessed/raw

4. Transparent

5. Multiplied

6. Continuous

7. Solid

8. Flexible

Example: The selected category can be flexible but it does not mean that it cannot be transparent at the same time, although flexible is to be stated as category because it points to the concept, used material and concrete solution more and in a better way.

It is recommended to use one material as the dominant. This also implies the connections, which need to be conceptualised, planned, and designed from the dominant or some other material (e.g. silicon, glue, wire, rope, bolts, screws etc.).

In order to present urban furniture it is necessary to select one or several offered ratios.

Ratios
1:1

1:2

1:5

1:10

1:20

1:50

1:100

It is necessary to keep in mind that the conceptual solution will be produced in practice. Authors of projects produce their solutions themselves and they should take care of clarity, details, attractiveness, and originality of presentation and possibility of production within the certain deadline.

The solution of urban furniture pieces that are going to be selected by an expert jury, will be realised within the premises of the Manual Forgotten Arts Museum M.F.A.M. www.themanualco.com workshop. After the decision of the jury, the authors of selected solution will be invited to participate in the workshop. The programme of the workshop will be published additionally. Authors will participate personally in the process of production, in consultations with members of the students' group RestArt and experts in the fields of architecture and town urban design.

The ratio of the selected proposals will be 1:1. The solutions will be produced in accordance with presentations included in competition solutions and it is thus necessary for authors to present their ideas in the best possible way. Material will be provided by RestArt.

Authors of the best solutions will be invited and informed in writing about the time and place of their stay in Novi Sad during the workshop and final stage of the competition. Students' group RestArt will provide accommodation for all the invited participants.

Project proposals should be sent exclusively via the Internet site of the RestArt group: www.teamrestart.com. Applications are free of charge.

The solution has to be represented in the form of one poster:

Dimensions 100x70cm. Vertically oriented.

Exclusively .JPEG format and resolution of 150 dpi. The poster must not be larger than 10MB.

The poster must be marked with 6 character code (combination of numbers and letters - e.g. 12345a - with the condition to have at least one figure, i.e. letter character. Characters must be lowercase letters). The code has to be placed in the lower right corner of the poster, in the size and font in the author's option. In addition to this, no other mark will be accepted.

Textual rationale of up to 1,000 characters, in Serbian or in English. Textual rationale should contain all the information related to the presented category, concept, materials, details, and final solution.

The basis, cross-sections, and 3d models/perspectives are in author's own option and in appropriate ratio.

Method of presentation can be chosen freely. It is possible to add title/name/logo related to the proposed solution. Via the Internet, it is possible to send video recording as well, of avi. format, as the additional/supplementary material. Video recording needs to contain an identical code with the own assigned to the poster.
