9th International Arquine Competition: Maps of the City: Metropolitan Infographic Center

The 9th International Arquine Competition, set out in the context of the Plaza de las Tres Culturas, in Tlatelolco, Mexico City, calls for proposals for a Metropolitan Infographic Center, an archive and permanent exhibition of the different graphic city, expressions of the Mexico City territory, including prehispanic codices, plans of the colonial, Porfirian, revolutionary, modern and contemporary as well as metro plans, graphics of seismic areas, maps of the usage and timing of urban transport, water and drainage infrastructures, and lot division.The center should house a space for the exhibition of possible and ongoing city projects, with a clearly informative vocation aimed at citizens. At the same time, it must be capable of incorporating new exhibition and information storage technologies, responding to the complexity of a places that unites prehispanic, colonial and modern architectures.

Program
The Metropolitan Infographic Center will have a total surface area of 450 m2.
Spaces to develop:
- 150 m2 triple height (where different map supports, conven- tional plans, codice facsimiles, computers, holograms, devices and so on can be hung)
- Archive: 150 m2
- Offices: 75 m2·
- Bathrooms: 25 m2
- Storeroom for artefacts and maintenance workshop: 50 m2

Material to be submitted

Two 90 × 60 cm (A1) laminates on stiff light boards in portrait (vertical) format. On the back they must have the inscription code provided by Arquine on inscription.
 - A sealed Letter-sized (A4) envelope with the inscription code on the outside and the following documentation inside:
1. The names and details of the participants
2. A Letter-sized (A4) print-out of the submitted laminates
3. A CD-rom, containing digitalized images of the panels at 300 dpi.

Registration Period
October 2, 2006 to January 31, 2007.

Prizes
1st place: Arquine - $100,000 Mexican pesos (US$10,000)
2nd place: Autodesk - $50,000 Mexican pesos (US$5,000)
3rd place: Editorial Cordillera - Colección DOMUS 1928 - 1999, Vol. I–XII, Taschen, 2006
Mention: HP invent - equipo HP Designjet 110 plus
Finalist: Funcionalismo - Wassily Chair by Marcel Breuer

Final submission date
05 March 2007, before 15:00.
