Arquitectum, a company which organizes architecture competitions, is pleased to welcome the world’s architects to the 2nd Urban Architecture Competition “New York 2007”.
A tower (to be located at the tip of the island of Manhattan on a pier over Battery Park with a 100 metre tall), that will house a museum which will display the belongings, memories and photos of the new generation of immigrants. This Monument will not only become an architectural landmark, but also serve as a space dedicated to the celebration of the new urban dynamic, the global multiculturalism and interracial relations in the 21st century. The museum will occupy an area of approximately 2,000 square metres and include the following spaces: entrance hall, temporary exhibition room, permanent exhibition room, storerooms, bathrooms, maintenance department, security, offices and cafeteria.
Conditions
Architects from anywhere in the world may take part in the competition as long as they have completed their studies (including bachelors) as well as any “Architecture Workshop” of any Faculty, School or University which runs the “architecture career” which includes at least one professor with these attributes. Multidisciplinary teams may also take part in the competitions (engineers, artist, etc.) as long as they have an Architect as Team Leader.
1st Prize
- 2 plane tickets to New York to attend the awards ceremony and the New York 2007 competition exhibition to be held in Manhattan in October 2007.
- Accommodation for three nights at the Paramount Hotel (www.nycparamount.com). - 200 copies of the exclusive Arquitectum publication entitled “New York 2007 - Architecture Award” - which will include all the competition winning projects (including honorable mentions) as well as a profile (photos, career, report) of each member of each team.
- Guided architectural tour to Manhattan architecture, including not only the architectural monuments(Empire State Building, Chrysler Building and Ground Zero) but also all the current architectural events at the Museum of Modern Art (www.moma.org) and at the Guggenheim Museum (www.guggenheim.org)
- The European design magazine “Wettbewerbe Aktuell” (www.wettbewerbe-aktuell.de) will dedicate an article of its publication to the New York 2007 competition’s result, including the project of the winning architects.
- The Spanish architecture competition magazine “Future” (www.arqfuture.com) will dedicate an issue of its publication to the New York 2007 competition during the year. - The Latin American design magazine “Entre Rayas” (www.entrerayas.com) will dedicate an issue to the New York 2007 competition, particularly the winning project, as well as covering the career and works of the winning architect or architects.
