Office of Metropolitan Architecture, for RAK Gateway, Ras Al Khaimah - UAEYarışma BilgileriCityscape and the internationally acclaimed publication, The Architectural Review, have teamed up for the fourth year to organise the Cityscape Architectural Review Awards 2007 – the most prestigious architectural awards platform for the emerging world.

The Awards will recognise and reward excellence in Architecture and Design from the emerging regions of the Gulf States, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, South America and South and East Asia (excluding Japan, New Zealand & Australia) and Latin America. Winners will be rewarded at an elaborate Gala Dinner held on the first night of Cityscape, Tuesday, 16th October, 2007.

Deadline for submission of entries is on 30 September 2007.

Judges
Paul Finch is the Editor of The Architectural Review and group editorial director of Emap construct.
Ken Yeang, Architect, T.T. Hamzah & Yeang, Malaysia, specialises in the design and planning of green or ecologically-responsive large buildings and sites.
Dr. Fatih Rifki, Dean of the School of Architecture and Design, American University of Sharjah, UAE, has worked as an architect and urban designer-planner, most recently on the Nicosia Masterplan under the auspices of the United Nations Development Program.
Dr. Suha Ozkan, Chairman, World Architecture Community, Switzerland, has undertaken extensive research on the theory and history of architecture, design, vernacular form and emergency housing; and has published numerous articles and monographs.
Sunand Prasad, President of the Royal Institute of British Architects is a founding partner of Penoyre & Prasad LLP, a London-based architectural practice known for designing a diverse range of award winning buildings.

Categories of Awards
Entries will be separated into Buildings (those already complete) and Projects (those incomplete or still on the drawing board), and judged on:
- Contribution to world architectural culture 
- Invention and imagination
- Respect for people, the planet and context 
-  Environmental awareness
- Appropriateness

The Categories
- Commercial / Mixed Use
- Community (including religious and public buildings)
- Leisure
- Residential
- Tourism, Travel & Transport

Special Awards
There will also be Special Awards decided by the judges, the winners of which will be picked from entries in the above categories. These categories cannot be directly entered, the shortlists will comprise of all suitable schemes submitted in all other categories.

The Environmental Award – to the one completed scheme that delivers best on environmental issues

The Islamic Architecture Award – for the project that shows particular empathy and understanding for Islamic culture and context.
