The idea of this IBA competition is to make a stay on the lakes possible. But therefor it is necessary to develop flexible and mobile forms of floating architecture. That is why the topic of the competition is the design of a mobile floating house to be used as a holiday house or dwelling house in the Lusatian Lake District. The houses should have a possibly high degree of autarky and mobility.

Eligibility
There are only participants allowed with a diploma or a master's degree in the fields of architecture, design or a technical engineering or who have a recognised qualification as an architect, engineer or designer. A landscape architect, interior designer or urban planner can´t take part at the competition.

In a team group must be named minimum one project author with a diploma or masters degree in the field of architecture or technical engineering or who have a recognised qualification as an architect, engineer or designer. Every other listed author must also have these qualifications. All other employees can not be designated as the author.

Graduate engineers in architecture are allowed.

A membership in a special chamber is not required. There is no registration or participation fee.

Competition Assignment
The competition assignment is to design a technical optimized architecture, which can move afloat. A concept like prototype, series production or boat category are not in the competition documents included. The primary purpose of a boat is the movement, the purpose of a houseboat is the “living move around”, the purpose of mobile floating architecture is the homelike sheltering on the water. Furthermore should be given the possibility of the movement simply to change domicile by necessity and therefore to use the amenities of the Lusatian Lakelands.

Water Depths
The water depth up to 1,50 m you can choose freely. Deeper is not covered by the lock overpass.

Obstacle
In compliance with the maximum extent there are no further obstacles.

Sea Water Quality
The sea water is not usable as drink water. The water in the former mining lakes has differing water qualities. In the worst case some mining lakes have a high concentration of iron and a pH-value of 2,3.
