The Organizing Committee of the 1st International Symposium of the Faculty of
Mines on Earth Sciences and Engineering invites you to participate in the
symposium during 16 - 18 May 2002 to be held at the ITU-Suleyman Demirel
Cultural Center - Maslak Campus, Istanbul - TURKEY. Istanbul Technical
University (ITU) has recently adopted a new strategy to compete favourably with
the leading universities of the world. Along this direction the Faculty of Mines
has launched a number of international multidisciplinary research activities.
This international Earth Sciences Symposium is an expression of this scope. Our
specific goals are to bring together professionals (leading engineers, manager,
and scientists) who are interested in diversified fields of earth sciences and
engineering; geology, geophysics, mining engineering and petroleum and natural
gas engineering, and to provide an environment where such professionals can
discuss and exchange new developments in their associated fields.
