Glasgow was once the shipbuilding heart of the world, and the Clyde the vein carrying the city’s lifeblood. But over the past three decades, Glasgow seemed to turn its back on its famous river, and its Waterfront became neglected and run down – an area many citizens wished to avoid. But the Clyde’s image is set for an overhaul. The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland is holding an important Conference on Friday 29th November, to explore Glasgow City Council’s plans to re-invent the Clyde Waterfront. The City Plan, unveiled earlier this year, aims to regenerate the area and draw businesses, transport networks, tourism and the people of Glasgow back to the river banks. The Conference will examine how the Council’s vision for the Clyde can
become a reality with the help of architects, developers, businesses and local
people. The Regeneration of Glasgow’s Clyde Waterfront promises to be a stimulating and thought-provoking event, which should be attended by everyone who has an interest in bringing the city of Glasgow back to its river. Tickets cost £175 (£45 for students) including coffee and lunch, and can be
purchased from RIAS, Edinburgh. Adress: Contact:
