[Un]bounding Tradition is the theme of the Eighth Conference of the International Association for the Study of Traditional Environments (IASTE) to be held in Hong Kong from 12-15 December 2002. This conference will be concerned with the tensions of borders and regions. It will specifically draw upon contemporary debates on space and place that seek to challenge the belief in the inherent stasis of the 'traditional' condition. Over 140 paper presentations by academics from 30 different countries will address the following sub-themes: Reconfiguring Regions, the Space of Borders and the Tensions of Ethnicity and Hybridity. Professor Ackbar Abbas, Professor Margaret Crawford, Professor Neil Leach and Professor Matthew Spark will be the distinguished keynote speakers at this year's conference. All registration inquiries should be directed to IASTE 2002 Conference,
