The theme of the next edition: "Intimacy" Which are today the spatial ambits of privacy, of protection, of safety, of intimacy? According to which modes and within what boundaries does the familiar, domestic dimension of the inhabited space take shape today? Which are, today, the limits and the forms of the public nature of space? Which characteristics do the environments built by new technologies around individuals take on? Through the theme "INTIMACY", the 2003 edition of Beyond Media/Oltre I Media will once again investigate contemporary architecture: built, designed or imagined architecture. It will do it by taking into consideration architecture as it is when observed, told and produced through the media. The public will be led to observe the inhabited space, the city, the territory and consider the role of publishing, television, cinema; it will be guided into the intimate space of satellite devices, information and mobile communication networks, control and surveillance instruments. The effects of communication technologies in shaping inhabited space will be explored. Within this broad topic, the Beyond Media/Oltre I Media festival will once again pinpoint the most significant aspects of the transformation brought about by the media, thus proposing an overview of the most interesting researches in the field. The festival will especially focus on the consequences produced by the impact of the media, thus anticipating possible future scenarios.
