The subject of the Project Competition,
ARCHINEERING 2003 is the design of "International Students' Information
Center".
ARCHINEERING 2003 will not be related to any university but it will be
planned only as an institution providing all communication needs of students.
The program and the project area are free choices.
The key words for designing are "to respond to the communication needs
of the students". Hereby the real and virtual connections are intended.
While the real connections are student exchange programs, travel facilities,
collective projects, exhibitions etc. virtual connections become internet
facilities. Besides, a place where students can exhibit their work and organize
meetings must be considered.
ARCHINEERING 2003 must be in interaction with its environment. It is expected
that the building can be diffused in the environment.
As the principle objective of the competition, ARCHINEERING 2003 must be a
design reflecting the use and benefits of steel structures with the
collaboration of architectural and civil engineering students. The project must
accentuate the different varieties of steel as a material and its adaptation
ability with other materials.
Total enclosed area of the building is maximum 500 m2 ; circulation area
included, open spaces are not included.
It is expected that the steel structure can be perceived from the outside.
Feasibility and reproducibility are important facts that will be considered.
An economical approach in total building weight will be an important criteria
in the evaluation of the project.
The structure of the building will be steel construction in which at least %
70 BORUSAN-PRO steel profiles and other BORUSAN BORU steel materials will be
used as the structure material.
