The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is holding an
international design competition for the design of its new headquarters in
Brussels, Belgium. The objective is to select a winning design. The
winning designer will be awarded the entire mission of design, monitoring and
oversight of the execution of the works for the new HQ project.

NATO is hereby launching a call for applications with the
intention of making a preselection on the basis of criteria outlined on the
competition website. 20 to 30 qualified concept design teams will be
selected. Selected teams will then be invited to participate in the design
competition.
The competition is open to the 19 NATO member states listed here: Belgium,
Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland,
Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, the
United Kingdom and the United States. Only nationals or legal entities in
these 19 states may participate.
Awards
During phase one, the call for applications, there is no remuneration. Preliminary outline designs chosen by the jury during phase 2A as satisfactory
will be awarded EURO 20,000. During phase 2B, chosen designs will be
awarded EURO 100,000 each. Remuneration paid to the winner in phase 2B
will be considered an advance on fees for the completion of the design
commission. The following amounts will be awarded in addition to the
aforementioned amounts: 1st prize - EURO 200,000, 2nd prize - EURO 150,000 and
3rd prize - EURO 100,000.
