Yarışma Özeti(Summary):
The AIA Young Architects Forum, AGC's Young
Constructors Forum, and Northeast Denver Housing Center have partnered
to host a juried competition in conjunction with the 2001 AIA national
convention, May 17-19, in Denver. This competition will have two
categories. In accordance with the convention's theme,
"Leaders and Partners in Creating Community," the design
category will focus on an urban infill project in the historic Five
Points Neighborhood of Denver. The constructor category will focus on
affordable housing and community service projects.

Background
Design Category: The competition site is located at the
eastern edge of the Five Points neighborhood, a roughly triangular
area of 1,133 acres lying immediately northeast of downtown
Denver, and is a vacant parcel made up of two lots.
Northeast Denver Housing Center plans to develop the site for four
to six units of residential with one to two units of commercial
use. Competition submittals should explore the potentials of
the development of an affordable or mixed income, residential or
mixed use, replicable project for urban infill that is
architecturally relevant.
Constructor Category: A qualifying project for the
constructor category must have been completed in 2000 and meet the
following criteria:
-Contractor's contribution to the community
-Contractor's state-of-the-art advancement
-Contractor's innovation in construction techniques or materials
-Sensitivity to environment and surroundings
-Positive industry image
Entry Fees
AIA or AGC Members: $35
AIA or AGC Associate Members: $20
Nonmember architects, contractors, and interns: $50
Students: $20
For team entries, the required fee shall be the highest amount for
which any individual team member is obligated.

Winning entries in both categories will be displayed at the AIA
National Convention in Denver. Northeast Denver Housing Center
plans to construct the winning design.
