organising an international architectural design competition for a new
building for the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines in
Strasbourg

The competition will be run in two phases: seven (7) teams will be
preselected on the basis of their application files and invited to take
part in the design competition proper, submitting an anonymous project
sketch outline and model.

The project concerns the construction of a new building for the European
Directorate for the Quality of Medicines in Strasbourg (France). It will
comprise a building containing offices, meeting rooms and laboratories with
a floor area of approximately 13,000 m², a 100-space covered car park, as
well as the planning of land with a surface area of about 18,000 m². The
total works estimate is: 23,000,000 €

The purpose of the competition is to select the winning team who will be
commissioned to create the new building.

Reimbursement of the costs of candidates invited to participate in Phase 2
of the competition is fixed at: 50,000 € per design team. The prizewinning
team will receive an additional reimbursement of 50,000 €.

The closing date for receiving applications by e-mail and post is: Friday
10 May 2002, at 12 noon (Strasbourg-time)

The competition is open solely to nationals of its 43 member states
operating in one of those states: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria,
Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark,
Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland,
Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta,
Moldova, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian
Federation, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland,
"the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia", Turkey, Ukraine and the United
Kingdom.
