AC hottich German architects collective have decided to use the tried and tested communications system the post card to create a new forum for architectural debate. By constraining presentations to a postcard format it is hoped that a wide range of concise spontaneous ideas about current urban issues can be quickly generated.

The first theme for consideration is the Berliner Schlossplatz The Schlossplatz, former site of the old Hohenzollern palace, the centre of Imperial Prussian power, and today still dominated by the "Haus des Volkes" the Palast der Republik built by the DDR regime that pulled down the bomb damaged former palace leaving only the balcony were Karl Liebknecht pronounced the first German communist republic, is at heart of Berlin and consequently the unified German Republic and has become a physical manifestation of the way the German nation sees itself and its relationship to its past. Due to this political baggage that the site brings with it the debate on what to do with the Schlossplatz has come to a standstill.

AC Hottich hopes that the postcard presentation model will bring fluidity in to the debate about what to do with the site. The entries will not be judged but they will be exhibited in Berlin and other German cities. Please send post cards to the address below.
