Yarışma Özeti(Summary):
The 5th Arquine competition, is about the design of a unit for living and work that assume as esential part of its problem issues the use of glass and  in consecuence, the idea of transparency (http://www.vidrioplano.com) how is  a house of glass, and, how transparent a house of glass should be in the  beggining of the XXI century, on internet and communications era? More than a house a space to live and work. Altough particularly conditions very precise might arise like the redefinition of the habitants: who will live and  work there: some members of a postmodern nomad tribe or an anchoret, an autonomous single person or a traditional family?

More than a house a space to live and work. Altough particularly conditions very precise might arise like the redefinition of the habitants: who will live and  work there: some members of a postmodern nomad tribe or an anchoret, an autonomous single person or a traditional family?

It´s important to consider this project in relation with its manifest and prototype: an open proposal to other forms of inhabit. however its geographic location will be situated in the city of Monterrey (Mexico) (http://www.chipinque.org.mx), extreme climatic conditions and the geography opens a wide range of possibilities to think in an edification capable of easily adapt to this changes. Proposals to define the space to live and work on the Chipinque park in Monterrey, and the project serving as a model to other places as well. Proposals shall have programatic character, combining the conceptual arguments and the constructive viability in the next guidelines:The proposal shall offer solutions for the division and or integration of two primarily functions: live and work, inside a contemporary vision of this activities.Winner project shall built VIRTUALLY, for its exposition and diffussion.

Submission materials
Projects shall privilege the use of glass, even in combination of estructural elements like concrete prefabricated walls, steel or wood or foundation elements, floors, roofs, appurtenances and others. materials shall be contemporary, low cost, environmentally safe, that allow for a fast and precise construction. Materials must exist in Mexico.

Programme
Basic unit from 90-100 square meters to inhabit (eat, cook, sleep, clean, work and stock). From 1 to 4 ocupants. Versatile and adaptable to the "classic"; mexican family, "postmodern" couple; or contemporary hermit.Admisible use of exterior areas (yards, terraces, etc).

Budget
Edification costs.- Proposal shall include a general budget that not exceed $3,000(mexican pesos)/per square meter. max allowed budget of $300,000 ($30,000 USD).

Fees
Inscription $400 (mexican pesos) $60 USD (international). 20% discount on annual suscriptions to Arquine magazine to participants.

Prizes
