The City of Helsinki, the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of
Agriculture and Forestry, the Finnish Forest Foundation and Wood Focus Finland
are organising a general architectural competition in co-operation with the
Finnish Association of Architects. This competitions objective is to find new
solutions for the construction of high-density, low-rise residential dwellings
using wooden construction.

are organising a general architectural competition in co-operation with the
Finnish Association of Architects. This competitions objective is to find new
solutions for the construction of high-density, low-rise residential dwellings
using wooden construction.
The area in question for the competition is approximately 15 hectares and is
located in the Myllypuro section of Helsinki on both sides of Ratasmyllyntie,
complementing the current residential area. A gross residential floor area of
50-70,000 sq.m. is being planned for the area. In accordance with current
agreements and legislation, the competition is open to all designers from
Finland and the EU or from countries that are covered by its procurement
legislation and that have the right to work as architects in their own
countries.
