The awards committee invites your participation in the international
Architecture+ Awards 2004, ‘Design for a New World’. The Awards are open to
architects, landscape architects, urban designers and planners, and students
from across the globe to enter, for projects successfully completed in the
Middle East, Africa or Asia pacific region. The Architecture+ Awards 2004 are
the initiative of Inhouse Creative, the publishers of Dubai’s premier and the
regions leading magazine on architecture and design – Architecture+
‘Architecture of a New World’.
Three major developments these years Architecture+ Awards include:
1. A TOTAL OF US$10,000- CASH PRIZE FOR THE ARCHITECTURE+ ASPIRING
ARCHITECT AWARD 2004.
The cash prize of US$10,000 makes the Architecture+ Aspiring Architect Award one
of the largest monetary prizes for students of architecture and design in the
world. The ‘Aspiring Architect Award’ is collectively sponsored by Dubai’s
TECOM, Swarovski and Architecture+ and will be administered by the American
University of Sharjah, UAE. The Architecture+ Aspiring Architect Award is open
to students globally under the same theme as the Architecture+ Awards 2004,
‘Design for a New World.’
2. THE ‘PUBLIC EXHIBITION OF ENTRIES’ AND THE PROFESSIONAL’S CHOICE
AWARD
With the official support of the Big 5 Show, who has generously provided
invaluable space during this show, there will be a unique exhibition of major
architectural projects and developments underway/ planned for our region as well
as the ‘Architecture+ Award Exhibition of Entries’. Both exhibitions will be
open to the all those attending the Big 5 Show and will offer the opportunity
for architects to nominate their preferred ‘winner’ of the Architecture+
Professional’s Choice Award 2004 .This award will be presented at the Award
Ceremony and Gala Dinner.
3. THE LAUNCH OF THE REGIONAL INSTITUTE FOR ARCHITECTS AND DESIGNERS
(RIAD)
Over the next few months we will see the establishment of the Regional Institute
for Architects and Designers (RIAD), for Architects, Urban Designers and
Planners, Landscape Architects and Students. The primary aim of the Institution
is to validate the profession of Architecture across the New World region
(namely the GCC, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent) as
well as the numerous schools of architecture and design.
A Jury of internationally acclaimed and recognised architects from the
world's most powerful architectural associations and practices will convene in
Dubai and select the winners of the Architecture+ Awards 2004. There are ten
categories this year, new ones include ‘Hotels & Resorts’ and
‘Landscape Architecture’. Complete details of the Master Jury 2004 and the
Sub Jury 2004; the categories and the evaluation criteria; the submission
guidelines and other event information is available online at www.arcpluswards.com
