Footbridge 2002 Design and dynamic behaviour of
footbridges
20, 21 - 22 Kasım 2002,
Paris - Fransa |
It is the first time that a world-wide international conference will be
wholly devoted to footbridges.
This conference will be an opportunity for all those involved in footbridge
design and construction from all over the world to exchange their ideas and to
discuss developments in the field of design and dynamic behaviour of
footbridges. The presentations will interest all those dealing with pedestrian
crossings: designers, engineers, researchers, contractors, operators, etc.
As footbridges increase in span, flexibility and lightness, they can no
longer be designed without special consideration being given to vibration
phenomena. The lateral vibration problems discovered after the recent
construction of large footbridges in Paris (Solférino), and in London
(Millennium) must not be allowed to overshadow insufficiencies also encountered
in smaller spans. Many other footbridges, whatever the materials, have natural
frequencies with the potential to suffer excessive excitation under pedestrian
actions. Dynamic design rules and criteria related to pedestrian comfort are
essential.
Ten keynote state-of-the art lectures given by well-known international
experts and over fifty further carefully selected contributions will be
presented orally and by posters, giving an overview of the latest research
results and practical experiences. This 3 days meeting, ending with a visit to
Solférino famous footbridge in Paris, will provide opportunities to meet the
world-renowned professional colleagues and make useful contacts.
With the members of the Scientific Committee and the Organising Committee, we
hope that you will be among the more than 300 delegates expected in Paris in
November 20-22, 2002.
We will be happy to welcome you with the typical French warm and friendly
atmosphere and make your visit in Paris a good souvenir.
