Integrated Lifetime
Engineering of Buildings and Civil Infrastructures (ILCDES 2003)
01 - 03 Aralık 2003, Kuopio
- Finlandiya
|
The area of lifetime design, management and maintenance planning of buildings
and civil infrastructures is of great interest internationally, and a lot of
research and practical development is currently underway in these fields. For
this reason, there is again a strong need for discussions about the latest
developments.
The first International ILCDES Symposium was held in May 2000 in Helsinki on
the theme: "Integrated Life Cycle Design of Materials and Structures".
Among the participants, the Symposium was considered very successful, with
regard to both the content and arrangements.
Who should attend?
The symposium is directed towards an international audience of building
professionals: owners, architects, structural and civil engineers,
manufacturers, contractors, maintenance professionals, government and municipal
officials, researchers and educators.
Call for Papers
Participants wishing to present a contribution are invited to submit
an abstract, related to the symposium themes. The abstract should be typewritten
in English, not exceeding 300 words, on one A4 size page. The abstract should be
e-mailed to the Symposium Scientific Secretariat by October 31, 2002. Please
note that the abstracts should not include any graphics or pictures. The
abstract should also include the name and title of the author and all necessary
contact addresses (name, organisation, street address, e-mail and fax).
Important dates
Please note the important dates
October 31, 2002 Submission of maximum 300 word abstract by e-mail
January 31, 2003 Notification of acceptance by e-mail and acceptance letter
May 31, 2003 Submission of full paper by e-mail
The Call for Papers brochure can be printed here
as a PDF-version.
Technical Programme
Lifetime engineering is an innovative idea and a concretization of
this idea for solving the dilemma that currently exists between a very long-term
product and a short-term approach to design, management and maintenance
planning. Lifetime engineering includes:
- Lifetime investment planning and decision making
- Integrated lifetime design
- Integrated lifetime management and maintenance planning
- Recovery, re-use and recycling
The integrated lifetime engineering methodology concerns the development and
use of technical performance parameters to optimize and guarantee through the
lifecycle, the requirements arising from human conditions
(functionality/usability, safety, health and comfort) and economy, as well as
cultural and ecological considerations. With the aid of lifetime engineering, we
can thus control and optimize the human conditions, the monetary economy, and
the economy of the nature (ecology).
Participants
The symposium will bring together an international audience of building
professionals: owners, architects, structural and civil engineers,
manufacturers, contractors, maintenance professionals, government and municipal
officials, researchers and educators.
Themes
ILCDES 2003 Symposium aims at activating a development process in the field
of lifetime engineering and providing a forum for dialogue between all
stakeholders of building and civil engineering, as well as between research,
practice and education, and for presenting and discussing the latest R&D
results in this field. Organisational, managerial, economic and technical
viewpoints are included.
