General Information:
Forms of Participation
There are three ways to participate in the Bienal:
a) sending works
b) attending the events and conferences that will be organized during
architecture week
c) taking part in both.
Participation through works sent to the Bienal
Eligibility:
All works built from 1998 to date, are eligible to participate in the following
categories:
Architectural Design:
- Collective houses and public buildings up to 10.000 sq. feet (Gold medal and
silver medal)
- Multi family housing and public buildings over 10.000 sq. feet (Gold medal and
silver medal)
- Single Family Housing (Gold medal and silver medal)
Landscape Architecture:
- Public
- Private
Interior Design:
- Commercial
- Residential
General Category (Open):
Unbuilt projects or buildings that do not fall into any of the above mentioned
categories. (i.e. ecoarchitecture, public works, etc.) The Bienal Medallion will
be awarded to the best project of all categories. The jurors will also present
Honorable Mentions at their discretion.
Reciprocity:
The winners of the last edition of other International Biennials are admitted to
the exhibits automatically and free of charge. If they want to compete for the
awards they may follow the registration procedure and pay the entry fee. All
works sent to the AIA Miami 2003 Awards will be entered in the Bienal at no
additional cost.
Notice: All participants will receive a certificate.
No panels or any other material sent to the Bienal will be returned. They will
become property of the Biennial, who reserves the right to reproduce them in all
means without previous permission of the participants.

Int'l Competition for the master plan of the Resistencia Convention Center in
Chaco, Argentina [ $3,000 Cash award ]
Architecture Photography Competition
International Student Competition
There will also be an International Student Competition for the design of a Boat
House to be located across the street from the Fountain Bleau Hotel in the city
of Miami Beach. The program and rules of that competition are being announced
separately from those of the Bienal.

All registration fees must be sent to the following address which is also valid
for all submissions and general information.

The registration fee will be 50 U$S for each entry.
Payments should be made with Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Novus, American
Express, or Diners Credit Cards. Please write the card Number and expiration
date. There is no limit of the number of works that may be entered. Information
is available in English or Spanish.
Registration: The registration fee until August 15, will be 50 US dollars.
Late Registration: Registrations will be accepted until October 20, 2003 but the
late registration fee will be 75 US dollars.
Presentation requirements
All participants must send works mounted on light foamcore boards with all
information of the participants in a sealed envelope. The only visible marking
will be the category selected for the entry. A maximum of two boards will be
allowed for each building/project. The board size is 24x36 inches (61x 91,5
centimeters). They must be organized and displayed vertically and numbered
accordingly. In a sealed envelope participants must send their personal
information. All works showing marks or any author identification will be
disqualified.
Shipping and reception of entries
All submission packets must show in clear print in their wrapping:
Exhibition boards without commercial value.
Printed matter for exhibition only.
The Bienal will not be held accountable for any damages or delays caused by
the carrier or custom inspections.
A separate envelope with the word registration clearly written on the front,
must be sent with a copy of the payment enclosed and a clear indication of the
category selected for the entry.
Any entry that does not meet the following regulations will be automatically
disqualified.
Jury Members
The members of the different juries will be selected from a group of
international architects to be announced.
The decisions of the jurors are final.
Travel and tour information at promotional prices will be sent upon request.
