Yarışma Özeti(Summary):
Participants must devise and design a retro futuristic automobile vehicle and
attach a written description to the design explaining the concept. The main
factors taken into account will be the originality of the concept and the
clarity of the explanations, adherence to the Peugeot brand values, creativeness
of style and the quality of the final product.
At the end of the competition, Peugeot will build an actual-size model of the
vehicle chosen as the winning entry. This vehicle will be presented at the 2003
Frankfurt Motor Show.
What is meant by “design”?
This is not an easy question to answer, as there is no definition set in stone.
Every period has its style… Each designer reinvents design and its definition.
What is retrofuturism?
Here too, there is no single definition. Something leaning towards Art Deco? A
Retro trend brought up to date to match modern-day tastes? It all depends on
your personal interpretation.
One thing is certain, and that is that you act as a timeless crossroads, at the
meeting place between yesteryear and tomorrow’s world.
If retrofuturism was a film, it would be Moulin Rouge, Blade Runner or Back
to the Future… If it was an album, it would be by Moby…
What is a retrofuturistic Peugeot?
A “remake” of a flagship model of the past? A “mix” of several
generations of vehicles? A “melting pot” featuring a radiator grill, lights
and curves of a specific nature? Anything is possible…
It’s up to you to dream up a concept car by going back over Peugeot vehicles
of yesteryear. Anything is allowed up to a cut-off time set at the 1970s.
Consequently, you can draw your inspiration from all the models that marked
Peugeot’s history right through to, and inclusive of, the 04 series.
Anachronistic combinations of details and subtly mixing genres and
generations will open up your prospects.
