The 26th Annual Cooper Source Awards focuses on furthering the understanding,
knowledge and function of lighting as a primary element in interior design.
The competition requires
the use of Cooper Lighting brands, which include Halo, Metalux, Portoflio,
Neo-Ray, Corelite, Sure-Lites, Lumark, McGraw-Edison, Fail-Safe, Lumiere, Iris
Lighting Systems and Shaper. Entries will be judged on the blending of
aesthetics and technical performance and if the lighting met project and design
concept goals.

Judging for the 26th annual competition will take place in November 2002, by
a professional, 4-person independent panel of lighting and design professionals.
All awards for both the professional and student category will be announced in
December 2002. Professional winner(s) will receive trophies along with local and
national recognition through publicity and advertising. Student winner(s) will
receive trophies and $1,500 cash. Final deadline for all entries is October 25,
2002. Decisions by the jury are final. Incomplete or late entries will not be
considered.

Professional
The project must be a permanent interior or exterior installation completed
after January 1, 2001.

Please note the photography quality is important in the judging process.
Projects that exhibit fill light, retouching or manipulation will not be
allowed.
Students
Provide entry on presentation boards not to exceed 20" x 30", no more
that 3 boards.
Boards must contain reflected ceiling/lighting plan, fixture schedule and a
one page narrative description of the installation and lighting. Boards must
include either sketches, renderings or photos of models for the
installation concept.
Attach the entrant's name, home address and home telephone number to the back
of the board. Please also include school name, school address, telephone number
and instructor name. Note that the judging will take place in November 2002 so
please include a telephone number where entrant can be reached at that time.

postmarked by October 25, 2002.
A brief written summary (100 words maximum) of special concerns on the
project and the design solution. No mention of company names or logo may appear
on any part of the presentation with the exception of a separate cover sheet.
In lieu of presentation boards, please provide a maximum of six 35 mm slides
of the project.
Slides can also be of relevant details, drawings, before/after photos, and
daytime photos forexteriors. Any example to help describe/present the unique
attributes and lighting solutions.
Slides must be labeled with a number and project name, each to correspond to
a keyeddescription (maximum 50 words per slide). Description should include
types of fixtures and reasons for selection.
