Yarışma Özeti(Summary):
Carlow enjoys a national reputation as a centre for visual arts due mainly to
the success of the annual Eigse Arts Festival which is now 25 years in
existence. The Eigse Arts Festival which runs for a week every June is based in
Carlow College and also uses the grounds immediate to the College to exhibit
larger pieces of sculpture. Carlow Local Authorities, together with Carlow
College and the organisers of the Eigse Festival wish to build on the
foundations achieved through the annual Eigse Festival to develop a national
centre for contemporary art in Carlow. The project budget for the centre
including fees shall be between
€ 5M and € 7.5M exclusive of Value Added Tax. The competition will be held
in two stages. Stage One is open to architects/architectural practices holding a
qualification listed in the EC Architects Directive 85/384/EEC. It is the
function of the Registrar to decide on eligibility.
Approximately 3 to 7 participants will be selected for Stage 1, provided
there is a sufficient number of suitable participants, to go forward to Stage
Two and provide a more detailed design proposal. Each second stage entrant shall
receive a prize premium of € 10,000 for a valid submission. For the winning
candidate, this will be an advance on the fee for executing the commission, if
